About

Open Source Assessing focuses on meeting the educational needs for county assessors across the state of Indiana. Simply acquiring the skills and resources needed to do one's job shouldn't be a battle. OSA aims to provide these resources to assessors across the state without jumping through financial hoops or wasting taxpayers' money.

Over the past decade, the DLGF has moved away from education and training and moved towards being an agency focused solely on oversight. This has left an educational gap that we would like to step in to fill. We want to provide assessors the tools to perform their own ratio studies, develop their own values, and defend their own appeals.

There's a lot of information out there. When assessors collaborate with each other to learn, everyone wins.

We believe all assessors can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

Open Source Assessing empowers assessors to develop fair and equitable assessments using shared information and IAAO accepted appraisal principals without reliance on outside contractors.
